The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Palestine, is heartbreaking to watch.
It can be hard to know what to do, but the UAE is stepping in with a generous donation to the UN's humanitarian work in the territory.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co - operation, announced on Wednesday that a US$2 million (Dhs7. 3m) contribution would be made, The National reports.
The donation is timed to assist with electricity for hospitals in the area, supplies of which are currently under threat.
It comes as part of the UAE's policy of supporting the UN's efforts in the Middle East.
The donation also follows US President Donald Trump suggested on Twitter that he would cut funding to Palestine.
Following those statements, Queen Rania Al - Abdullah of Jordan joined those standing with Palestine.
"No political decision can ever undermine the sanctity of Jerusalem and what it means to millions of Arabs, Muslims and Christians around the world, " she wrote on Twitter at the time.
