The Pakistani cookbook ‘Pakistan Heritage Cuisine – A Food Story’ has just won an award at the Gourmand World Awards, often credited as the Oscars of cookbook awards.
The ‘Pakistan Heritage Cuisine – A Food Story’, written by author Sayeeda Leghari has now become the best Asian Cookbook in the world. The award ceremony took place in Yantai, China yesterday.
Winning the award wasn’t an easy task for Leghari because her book was pitted against seven other cookbooks from around the world including Persian Kitchen (Israel), Korean Wife’s Secret Recipes (Hong Kong), Lickerland (USA), Asian Accented Desserts (USA), and Fast Indian Cooking (Malaysia).
The ‘Pakistan Heritage Cuisine – A Food Story’ was released last November and delves into the history and evolution of the Pakistani cuisine.
The book provides the reader with interesting facts like how the Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Qamaruddin used the Kulcha naan’s symbol on his flag and revealing the inventor of biryani who was Empress Nur Jahan.
