The locals filed a complaint against Salman Khan and other co - actors. Salman Khan was jailed in 2007 but got bailed after a week. The High court stated that there is no proof that the blackbucks were shot by the actor’s gun.
Later, the Rajasthan government filed an appeal in the Supreme Court in 2016.
The other co - actors Tabu, Saif Ali Khan, Neelam Kothari, and Sonali Bendre, were also accused of same. Although, they were free from charges later on.
According to Jodhpur court, Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri declared him guilty of killing two blackbucks in two decades old poaching case. He was sentenced to jail for 5 years and fine of Rs 25000 by the court on 5th April 2018.
Eventually, the actor was granted bail after two days in Jodhpur Central Jail.
In February 2019, the actor had filed an appeal against the verdict of the Rajasthan court. Although, the hearing date is postponed to July 4, 2019.
